brownie

This is a Kodak Brownie camera. It was made in the late 1950s.

Last summer I managed to salvage it from a pile of things that were marked to be scrapped. Dusty, but seemingly in working order, I stuck it in a drawer - where it had no doubt been for decades - and told myself that I'd endeavour to one day use it.

Seven months later, I took delivery of a set of photographs that I took in and around Leicester in December 2011.

Anyone waiting for a reply email, text or letter from me will probably appreciate that seven months isn't a bad turnaround for a physical item that required a partial amount of admin on my part.

They're shaky and unfocussed, but I think they're charming.

Salvage useful and interesting things. There are less and less of them.
